Joining Forever Living in South Africa

Forever Living products are growing in popularity in South Africa.  The company held their annual global rally in Johannesburg in 2016, where over 10,000 Forever Living Business Owners gathered from around the world to share experiences, learn from each other, and receive their Chairman’s Bonus cheques from our CEO Rex Maughan.  If you are in the UK then take a look at my previous blog post “how much does it cost to join Forever Living”.south-africa-global-rally

Who Can Join Forever Living

Forever Living is a business which anyone can do.  Forever provides ordinary people with an opportunity to build an exceptional financially secure future. This is a chance to start a business with real potential, uncapped income, and proven results, while still being able to achieve that elusive work-life balance.

How to Join Forever Living in South Africa

To join you simply need to fill out an application form and make your first order for products.  You can use the South African application for in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  Click on the link to download the distributor application form.

When you submit your application form you need to include a copy of your ID document and the top section of your bank statement as per the FICA requirements.

Your first order for products needs to be for at least 1 or 2 case credits (1cc or 2cc) which is our internal currency used in Forever Living to value the products, not a monetary value.  Download the price-list-for-new-distributors-2016 and see page 2 for the suggested combo pak lists and their case credit value.  The prices for the packs are given on page 4 of the order form.  After your initial order the minimum order quantity is reduced to US $ 100.00 before VAT at 14% (SA), the VAT rate can vary between countries.  In SA the minimum order is R950 before VAT.

Full instructions are in the how-to-join-south-africa document with bank details for paying in South Africa.  If you are in any of the other countries listed then you should contact operations@forever.co.za for the appropriate bank details.  The office locations in South Africa are also included in the document.

How do you earn money with Forever Living?

The first way you earn money with Forever Living is by retailing the products.  You buy the products at a discount which varies according to where you are on the Marketing Plan. This is something which seems quite complicated before you first join, but you soon get used to it with the help of your sponsor in the business.

Basically, if you choose to join placing an order for 1cc then you will earn a 15% discount on your products, which you will then earn when you sell to your customers at the standard customer prices, shown in the price-list-for-customers-2016.

If you first joined with the 2cc order you skip straight to the 2nd level on the marketing plan, assistant supervisor, which earns you a 30% discount on the products plus an additional Personal Discount of 5%.  You can move from 15% to 30% by placing 2cc of orders over 2 consecutive months as your business grows.

As your business grows further you will be able to work your way up our marketing plan first to Supervisor where you earn 8% Discount, then to Assistant Manager for 13% Discount, to Manager at 18% Discount.

Forever Living also reward you for introducing new people to the business, you can learn about this once you join.

Support and Training

Forever living as a company offers events and trainings you can attend all over South Africa and beyond.  Also, the person who introduces you to the business, or your sponsor, will be able to help and support you in how to find customers, in learning about the products, and how to find potential team members.  Choose your sponsor carefully as teams can vary widely in the sort of training they provide.  You will see on my blog here under the Business Building category the kind of help and advice I can help with if you choose to join my team.

Something had to change by Frances Woollard

This post is taken from a feature article in the Forever Living magazine in July 2016, following Frances’ promotion in the business in January this year.  It’s in Frances own words :

I did an engineering degree in the eighties and immediately went into the world of IT, working my way up to team leader. I loved my work, but my life completely changed when I had my children.

My children are both the result of IVF treatment, and so I knew that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mum. Life was wonderful, but when my youngest turned two, money started to become an issue and I was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I needed to be able to work from home so I set up my own IT business. I loved the flexibility this business gave me and I would often work late into the night so that I could spend quality time with the children during the day.

Unfortunately my business was hit by the recession, and in 2011 I was divorced after twenty-four years of marriage. My life fell apart. I was on anti-depressants and my health was getting worse. I knew I had to change something but I also knew that I didn’t want to work for anyone else. One day I heard a lady talking about a recent promotion in her Forever business; she looked so happy. We met up and I immediately saw an opportunity which meant I could continue to work from home around my children. I signed up in June 2012.

After signing up my health started to improve and my confidence grew. But after getting to Assistant Manager I stopped believing in myself and my business stopped growing.

About a year ago I realised something had to change; I decided to work on my self-belief and my mindset and that’s when, in January 2016, I achieved Manager.

My life is getting more and more exciting every day, and my daughter (who is now eighteen and who has always believed I could do this) has also joined the business – she is now ready for when she goes to university in September! Forever has given me so much: I think it’s absolutely amazing that I’m able to set up my daughter with her own business at eighteen, and now I also have the freedom to spend time with my mum who is in her eighties.

I am so proud to call Frances a friend as well as my sponsor.  She supports me in my business, and helps all my team too.  We work together to help others build their Forever business.  If you would like to find out more about starting your own Forever Living business then please get in touch via the Contact Me link at the top of this page.

20 Ways to Raise the money to join Forever Living

I get contacted often by people keen to join Forever Living, but they can’t afford the £199.75 for the UK Business Owner Box (or BOB as we affectionately call it) and they want financial help in order to get started. Prices vary depending on which country you are from. See my previous post on How Much Does it Cost to Join Forever Living.

However when you join Forever Living you are starting your own business, and if you don’t make some sacrifices yourself to join, or actually invest your own effort and time into raising the funds for your box you may well not see the value in your new business. Also would you give another person who contacted you out of the blue via the internet £200 just like that?

I am very happy to give my time, expertise and support to help others start their own business, but you need to also commit your time and effort too or your business will never grow. Take a look at my previous post How Not to Grow your Network Marketing Team on more reasons why funding someone to join Forever Living is not a great idea.

So how can you earn enough to buy your BOB if you have no spare money – here are my top 20 tips….

  1. Collect £2 or £1 coins
  2. Ebay your surplus clothes
  3. Cash in the attic – sell those treasures you have forgotten about
  4. Sell your unwanted belongings
  5. Do some overtime
  6. Baby sit
  7. Clean for Someone
  8. Walk dogs
  9. Clean cars
  10. Have a garage or yard sale
  11. Ask your family
  12. Credit Card (but pay it back from your first orders)
  13. Ask 20 people for £10
  14. Ask 10 people for £20
  15. Give up alcohol or smoking
  16. Stop eating out
  17. Take your own coffee instead of buying from Costa/Starbucks
  18. Do someone else’s gardening
  19. Do someone else’s shopping
  20. Do someone else’s ironing

I appreciate that not all these options are available to everyone, but pick one or two from the list or find your own way to save up your pennies, and you will find the £1s will soon mount up.

Also while you are saving then contact me and I can share some fabulous resources and background reading to help you learn more about this fabulous business so when you have saved the money you are ready to get earning straight away.

So what are you waiting for – start saving today – and come and join my team.

Updating your Who Do You Know List

What is a Who Do You Know List?

If you are new to Network Marketing then one of the first tasks your sponsor will ask you to do is most likely starting a Who Do You Know List.
WDYKL
On this list you should write down everyone you know, regardless of whether you think they might be interested in  your products or business.  You then use this list as your source for approaching people about the products and the business – but if you have been in Network Marketing for a while have you kept your list going adding new names as you think of them or as you meet people in your every day life and talk to them about your business?

My Story

I let my list go for a long while when I wasn’t totally focused on my business as life had got in the way, but last year when I decided to get serious about recruiting and building a team I printed out a load of template pages from our Forever Living First Steps to Manager book and every time I talked to someone about the business or the products I added them to my list with a short note on how I know them, or where they are based.
This is how I can keep track of how many people I have spoken to about my business.  Then I highlight a name in yellow when the person becomes a customer, and in pink when they become a team member.
This acts as a fantastic tool for me to see visually how well I am doing. I now have over 700 names on my list, and I have 21 (1 in 33) team members  of which 10 ( 1 in 70) are active (they place orders most months). I have also built up a database of 150 (1 in 5) customers over the last few years, so I can see how successful my business is by looking at the numbers, to get new customers or build my team I just need to talk to new people.
This means roughly if I want 1 new ACTIVE team member I need to speak to 70 people, and if I want a new customer I need to speak to 5 people. It really helps me to focus as if I’m not recruiting in any month, I can see immediately it’s because I’ve not spoken to enough people.  This isn’t an exact science, some pages on my list have loads of yellow and pink highlights on them, and other pages have none at all, but it’s a great guideline.

Keeping Good Records

If you are treating forever like a business and not a hobby then you need to track your activity and keep these kind of records, as otherwise you have no idea how successful your business is.  In Forever Living we have templates for keeping these lists which come in your First Steps to Manager booklet, as well as profile sheets to keep detailed information on who you have spoken to,  and an Activity Tracker to keep track of what information you have sent to prospects and when you have invited them to a Business Presentation and when they joined.
Activity Tracker
When you start out in Network Marketing you are starting your own business and you are your own boss.  Make sure you keep good records, so you can effectively follow up on inquiries as often you will need to speak to prospects several times over a few years before it is the right time for them to join your business, and without good records that fabulous new team member may well end up joining someone else’s team.

Sound Interesting?

I am currently expanding my team in the UK and beyond.  My last 3 team members who joined are based in Cheshire, London and India and I currently have space for more team members to mentor.  I would particularly like to build a team in South Africa due to the huge growth the business is currently expanding there.

If you are looking to try something new and want more information then take a look at our business brochure then message me via the Contact Me link at the top of this page and I will send you more information.

Independent, but NOT alone

It can be a daunting experience working as an independent business owner, and knowing where to turn for support can often be a minefield. But it’s important to recognise that all the most successful people in life, at some stage, will have depended on others to help them along their journey; whether that’s through a mentor, guide books or something more personal.

As a Network Marketer, the likelihood is you will constantly be learning and developing both yourself and your business, but sometimes it can be difficult to know what is on offer, particularly if your upline is relatively new to the business as well. This post is designed to help you build up your confidence, not only by suggesting where to go to for support, but also through encouraging a pro-active approach; one that seeks to promote your independent status

.Independent but not alone

Be Brave and Network

Networking is absolutely something you need to adopt and become confident in since it enables you to both learn and progress. In fact, progression is reliant upon networking, and this means you need to look further than your immediate friendship group!

Company Events

Regularly attending events and trainings is a fantastic way to put your face out into the world, and you are also guaranteed to learn something new whilst you are there. Even if you avoid people the first few times, eventually others will begin to recognise you; plus regular attendance will help you to feel more comfortable, particularly as you become more familiar with other regular attendees.

With Forever Living we have Success Day, Company Trainings and Business Presentations which are all fabulous ways to mix with other Forever Living business owners and learn something new while you are there.

Social Media

We appreciate that, for some people, initiating conversation can be terrifying. Sometimes taking that first step outside of your comfort zone is easier when done behind a screen. If that’s true for you, begin by utilising social media. Build your virtual network by messaging others in your business who you admire and asking for their advice, but whatever you do, don’t just start adding loads of people randomly. As a general rule, it’s usually more acceptable to follow people on Twitter randomly than adding them as friends on Facebook!

In Forever Living most teams and area leaders run Facebook groups, so it’s always worth joining your local group and initiating conversation here first.

YouTube is also an excellent tool that can help build your understanding of the business, but it also provides training videos that will enable you to learn from top people in your business  in the comfort of your own home. If you find a story you relate to, why don’t you see if you can find that person on social media and start by telling them how much you enjoyed hearing their story? It’s always a good idea to start with a compliment rather than a request!

Build your Confidence

If you feel confident in your business knowledge, you will feel more confident in yourself, and such confidence will make approaching prospects a whole lot easier. The most effective way to develop your business and product knowledge is through research. Attending events and conversing with other business owners is important
, but reading up on key areas shows initiative.

Forever living have company literature and  online resources you can access.  Some are open to anyone in the company and others are team specific, so if you haven’t joined a team yet it’s worth double checking the resources available with whoever you are thinking of joining in the business.  Training with Forever

Expand Your Horizons

Looking within your industry is fundamental when you need to brush up on product knowledge and company policy, but if it is motivation and general business-building skills you are after, it can be helpful to look further afield. Knowledge is King – A Forever Living approved supplier – provides a wonderful array of books that could help develop your approach to business. Advice books from top entrepreneurs, such as Jim Rohn and Darren Hardy, are worth investing in, particularly if you are looking to be inspired, but the Knowledge is King website – www.knowledgeisking.co.uk – also sells guides to business such as network marketing, prospecting and goal setting – all areas we encourage you to familiarise yourself with. If reading is not something you favour, Knowledge is King also offers audio books – perfect for the car as you journey to prospects or team meetings.

If all else fails…

If you still find you are struggling and you have already approached your sponsor and other business owners, Head Office may be able to help you. There are processes that can be set in motion that may be of help. However, these routes should only be utilised if you feel you have exhausted all other avenues.

Believe in Yourself

I find the biggest barrier people have in getting started in their Network Marketing career is their belief in them self.  Most people bring with them the old beliefs they had about themselves and this can poison their new opportunity.

Maybe you have always been told you will never amount to anything.  Maybe you dropped out of school as it just wasn’t the right environment for you, and those around you told you that you would never succeed in anything in life.  It is hard not to carry these beliefs into your adult life.

So when you come into our business, which is truly open to anybody, you bring these beliefs with you, like a weight on your shoulders, you may love the products, and believe in the company, but you don’t truly believe that it can work for YOU.  How many of us can relate to this in life?

When we start in our network marketing business it can be quite daunting.  People say no, people don’t turn up to meetings or aren’t willing to try our products, and all these things can have a negative effect on us if we let them.  When negative thoughts are starting to impact on your actions this is when you need to stop and learn to identify the problem, and learn to manage your thoughts, your internal voice, and remember the ABC of thought management:

  • Attitude Impacts Actions
  • Belief Impacts Behaviour
  • Thought content impacts Life content.

Changing Self Belief

When you are talking to people they need to know who you are, but first you need to recognise who you are.  This is all to do with developing a positive self-image. Your behaviours and actions will very rarely deviate from the way you think about yourself. If you believe you are not confident speaking to strangers, then you will subconsciously sabotage yourself when you try to do just that.  Your lack of confidence will be projected outwardly and those you are trying to talk to will pick up on that.

So think about some of those limiting beliefs you have – here are a few ideas, but make it an exercise to recognise and note down any others which are more personal to you:

  • I’m not good enough
  • I am unworthy of success
  • Other people are better then me
  • I can’t run a business and look after my children
  • I’m a fraud
  • I’m not a great team leader
  • I’m not meant to have money

Now everyone has this negative self talk going on in their head, especially when you are getting started in a network marketing career.  Just ask any of the successful leaders in your industry and I’m sure they all started out struggling with their self belief. What you need to do is stop and recognise these negative thoughts, and turn them around to the positive alternative.  So with the examples above you can change your thoughts to :

  • I AM good enough.
  • I am WORTHY of success
  • I am just as good as everyone else here – if they can do this so can I
  • I can run a successful business and be there for my children too
  • I am a fair and just business owner, doing the best for my customers
  • I’m a GREAT team leader
  • I deserve to be wealthy

Positive Steps

Try this exercise yourself of noting down your own limiting beliefs and turning them around to their positive alternative.

Every thought you have will effect how you think of yourself.  If you write down and repeat every day the positive alternatives to your most crippling negative self talk, then you will start to change your self belief.  You need to constantly work on your mindset and your belief and praise yourself every step of the way for all the amazing things you have done.

If you think you haven’t done anything good today then just stop for a minute, and think. It might be the smallest thing like passing on a smile to someone who looked glum today and cheering them up, it might be a great piece of customer service, it might be something you have done for a family member.  When you have stopped to recognise the positives in your life today then just remind yourself how fantastic you are.  Tell yourself that you are no longer interested in the old beliefs and you will be installing new beliefs.

Write down your positive self talk and say it to yourself every day before you leave the house, repeat them before an important meeting or before picking up the phone, and at the end of the day stop and think of 3 positive things you feel grateful for that day and write them down, so you go to sleep thinking positive thoughts.

Take your notes of your 3 positive things and put them each day in a jar or a box, then when you are feeling low and the negative thoughts are starting to weigh you down then take out the notes and read through them.  I can guarantee they will bring back happy memories and bring a smile back to your face.

Recruiting in Network Marketing

Whether you are new to Network Marketing, or you have been in your business for a while, one of the main things people struggle with is how to grow their team.  If you are in a business with a fantastic product, like I am with Forever Living, then the retailing part of the business, whilst not easy, develops much quicker than the team building part of the business.  However if you really want to make your business grow then building and supporting a team is essential.

Talking too Much

When I first joined Forever in 2012 I was so excited about this new opportunity I had found, linked to products which I already knew and loved, that I tried to tell everyone about how fantastic it was, and I couldn’t understand why some people just didn’t want to listen.  I definitely became an Aloe Bore, and when someone showed even a small shred of interest I tried to dump a whole ton of information on them, which would invariably scare them off.  I’m sure people tiptoed round me and didn’t want to set me off on another Aloe Aly lecture, or even avoided me completely.

talk and listen figures

Keeping things quiet

There then followed a period in my business where I was too scared to tell anyone about what I did after the reactions from my Aloe Bore phase. I just thought nobody wanted to know.  I would be careful not to mention Forever Living on my personal  Facebook profile, and I seemed constantly scared of offending people by mentioning my business.  Then if I saw someone else I knew trying the products from another business owner, or looking at the business through someone else, I would get upset they had not come to me.  But I was so quiet and timid about my business that they probably had no idea I was a Forever business owner myself, and that I wanted to build a team.  This was my Secret Aloe stage.

Striking the Right Balance

I needed to learn not to dump tons of information on anyone that showed a vague interest in my business, but also learn not to be scared to let people know about what I do in my Forever Business day to day.

Through the trainings I have been to since I started my business I have learned that when I am talking to people about my business, the important thing is not telling people how wonderful the business is, or how wonderful the products are, I can demonstrate how I love being a Forever Living Business owner just in the way I live my life, how I feel, what I am doing with my time, I don’t need to force feed the information to anyone.

Then if someone likes what they see and starts to show an interest in the business, what really engages them is what’s in it for them.

Think to yourself, how can they benefit from a business like mine, and most importantly what can you do to help them.  That is what people want to know.

But in order to really connect with someone and be able to show them how a business like yours can give them what they want and need, your first have to listen to find out what motivates them. You can then show and demonstrate how a business like yours will give them what they are looking for,  whether that is money, better lifestyle, more time or something else.

Why will people say No ?No Entry Sign

If you feel like you are being ‘sold’ to you will immediately switch off and not want to listen to what is being said.   Think about how you react to being approached by a cold caller.

People will also say no if they can’t see any personal benefit from joining you.  It’s the What’s in it for ME? syndrome.

How do you get people interested?

When you are approached about the business, and you have listened to why your prospect is interested, how can you prevent yourself from then going back to the talking too much about your opportunity, and scare them into thinking they are being sold to?

First thing is to ask for your prospect’s help in building your business.  Ask them if they know anyone who might like some information about your business opportunity.  Rather than asking them directly, by asking them for help and if they know anyone you are not challenging them or selling to them.  People are far more likely to respond positively, and quite often then say ‘Well I might be interested, can you tell me more?’

The  easiest way instead of trying to tell them all about your business if they do express an interest,is to  offer to send them a video or link to a business presentation which they can watch which will tell them more.  In my business we have a variety of videos, YouTube clips and DVD’s we can share with our prospects which have been developed by successful business owners in our team. Make sure you know what resources are available in your business and have them easily to hand to send to people.

Once they have watched the video they may be interested, or they may not, but if you have managed to get them to watch and consider your business opportunity, then you have at least managed to get over the first hurdle of sharing your business with someone.  The more people who see the information the more likely you are to find those people who really want to join you.

If they are not interested themselves then they might pass your name on to someone they know, or worst case scenario they say they don’t know anyone or they aren’t interested.  You can then just say ‘thanks for listening, I just though I’d ask’ and move on.

How can I be successful in Forever Living?

Whether you have already joined Forever Living as a business owner, or if you are still considering whether to join, you may be asking yourself ‘How can I be successful with Forever Living?’  I have previously written a post about How Much Can You Earn with Forever Living, but is money what motivates you, or is it something else?

Know why are you considering Forever Living

The first step to success if to know WHY do you want to be in this business?  This is the first thing we cover in your first business planning meeting when you join us.  If you don’t know WHY you are starting this incredible journey then you are likely to stumble early on.  You need to think about your goals in life, in your family, and in your business.

It might be a financial goal, paying your mortgage, having extra money to have some fun with your family, sending you children to private school.  It could be you want a more flexible way of working, a job that isn’t 9 to 5, with lots of unpaid overtime, or maybe you just want more time to spend on your children.  It could be a new car or a foreign holiday. Dream big or it will never happen.

Whatever your reason is, make sure you write your WHY  down, focus on it,  visualise yourself sitting in that convertible car, plan fun things to do with your family and create a vision board with pictures.  That way these dreams become goals, until you write your dreams down they will not feel real.why

Learn from those who have gone before you.

The second step to success is to never stop learning in your business.  When you first join our team, the first thing we will do is schedule in your first planning meeting where we get you started working on your business.  This is just the first instalment of the fantastic training Forever Living have to offer, which is both personally from myself as you team leader, meetings both in person and on-line with our team, and a fantastic array of training materials provided by the company too.

The wonderful thing about this business is you are never alone.  The business has been going for 37 years and those who started with the business early on have worked out what works and what doesn’t, and they have now shared this with all new business owners in the First Steps to Manager Manual, which was launched by Jayne Leach, one of the top UK business owners in 2014.  This manual comes in your business owner box, and if you choose me as your sponsor I’ll guide you through launching your business successfully and hold your hand every step of the way.

So be a sponge, learn from those who have already been through what you are going through, and then you can pass on your knowledge to others as you grow your own team.

Plan to be Successful

The third step to success is plan plan plan.  Once you know why you are doing the business and what your goals are, and you know how to build your business by accessing all the training available, you then need to plan you business every step of the way.  You know the saying, failure to plan is planning to fail.

Break down your goals into bite size chunks, then formulate a plan on how to achieve each smaller goal.  The only way you will fail is if you don’t take that first step. Goals change and move too, so you need to constantly look at how far have you come, have your goals shifted, and what you need to do to keep on track.

Planning

Don’t just Give it a Go!

Make sure when you decide to join Forever Living and buy your business owner box that you are not just ‘giving it a go’ as this is a sure fire way to not be successful.  Get you mindset right.  Plan to be successful.  Train to be successful.  Make being successful one of your goals .

Don’t let those negative voices in your head put you off, and don’t let  those other people in your life take your dreams away from you by not understanding what you are doing. Know why you are doing this business and keep doing the activity.  If you touch your business every day, your goals and dreams will become reality.

Remember, as top business philosopher Jim Rohn says, If you want to do something you’ll find a way.  If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.  Get in touch now about joining my team and we can find a way together to build your Forever Business into the successful business you deserve.

This is a great magazine to read as a customer to find out about new and exciting products, but also as an independent business owner it’s a great resource we can use to support our business.

Success Day

It’s a dark wet December Day,  wet and miserable outside,  but I’ve come to the NEC in Birmingham for the last Forever Success Day of the year.  The energy and excitement levels in this room banish all thoughts of the dark dreary weather outside.

So what is a success day all about?

First it’s about recognising the accomplishments of business owners who are working in their business,  whether you are new to Forever and you have had your first promotion,  or if you’ve been in the business for a long time and built your own team to hit the higher levels.

Those successful business owners all started on the first rung of the ladders like myself and the rest of my team.  At success day you hear many business stories which are wonderfully inspirational,  and you never know when that little nugget of information will inspire you.

Sharing tips for success

As well as the recognitions,  the other huge part of success day is learning from successful business owners.  It never ceases to amaze me how the top leaders in our business are so happy to share their top tips,  about the products,  recruiting team members and how to build your own business.

Marketing Tools

At Success Day all of the recommended retailers who supply the information and tools which can make your Forever Business so much easier also have stalls where you can pick up fantastic products,  books and advice to help you run your business. It’s a great place to pick up banners,  display materials,  and fantastic personal development books.

Personally I can never resist the product offers and I always go home with a bag full of products I can then pass on the offers to my customers.  I always save more money on these offers than I spent on my success express ticket!

So what are you waiting for.  Dates for Success Express in 2016 are already set.  Get those dates in your diary and come and be inspired in 2016. #successday
