How much does it cost to join Forever Living?

So, you have looked at Forever Living, and you like the products, and you think that you could work with the person telling you all about them (hopefully me!), and you are interested in starting your own business. Your next question is always, “how much does it cost?”

This is quite often a stumbling block for prospective new team members, as they may be looking at the business because they need more money, and can’t find the funds in order to join the company in the first place.  It’s a Catch-22 situation.  So how can you get over this barrier?  You know the phrase ‘you have to speculate to accumulate’, or ‘you can’t make money without spending money’.  How many new businesses can you start with no investment at all?  I know of very few.

Start your Journey Pack

No Joining Fee

Firstly, there is no joining fee to join Forever Living, but you can purchase a start your journey pack for just under £200 in the UK, which gets you straight onto the 2nd level of our marketing plan. In this box, you get a selection of our best-selling products, many of which can replace products which you would normally be buying in your monthly shop anyway: products like toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap and moisturisers.  So when you are thinking of buying a box, think of the money that you will then not be spending buying your usual products.  Also in the box are our best-selling Aloe drinking Gels and a whole heap of literature to really help you to get your business running.  The value of the products and literature is much more than the amount that you pay for them.

Hartwell Aloe Stall
Me and my Aloe

We recommend that you try everything in the pack, as you need to use the products to be able to confidently recommend them, but if money is an issue, you can sell these products in order to recoup your money, then as you start to earn from your Forever business, you can treat yourself to one new product with each new order that you place, thus spreading the cost of your own products.  We suggest that you start your business with a fanfare, and your sponsor will support you in hosting a business launch to which you can invite friends and family.  Many new business owners earn enough commission from having 2 or 3 launches to more than cover the cost of their business owner box.

Joining without the Start your Journey Pack

If you really can’t find the funds for your box, there is another way.  You can join the company purely by placing an order for products for over £75 (From 1st July 2020).  You don’t get as much commission when you join in this way, but it means that if you have a launch party and get orders from friends and family, you can join without spending any money yourself at all.  We would then suggest that you set aside your profits from these parties in order to buy your box as soon as you can.  You can also earn yourself the higher commission levels just by hitting a certain volume of sales. and then opt into being a Forever Living Business Owner.

If you are really struggling for money then take a look at my post 20 Ways to Raise the money to join Forever Living for some ideas on how to raise the cash.

What Next ?

So, if you really want to join Forever Living, but the cost of the pack is stopping you, then give me a call and we can put a plan in place to enable you to get over this hurdle and really get moving with your new and exciting business.

And once you’ve joined – then read my post on “How Much Can You Expect to Earn with Forever Living”.

If you are in Ireland then check out my post “How Much Does is Cost to Join Forever Living in Ireland” , for South Africa and surrounding countries  then look at Joining Forever Living in South Africa ,  or if you are in another country then get in touch and I can send you the details about joining in your area.

You can’t change your life if you don’t change your thinking.

Do you know about horses?

Horses are something I have a healthy respect for, but I know nothing about. I’ve probably ridden on two or three in my lifetime (and they have all scared me rigid!). I’ve felt so high up and totally not in control: they are just not my thing.

But I know that stables and the equine industry would be really good contacts for my Forever Living Aloe business.  The problem, is if I approach these types of businesses about the products, it doesn’t matter how wonderful the products are, I am sure that they will smell the fear of horses on me and I will  lose all credibility.

What really matters in my business is sticking to my strengths, and building a team  of people with the skills I lack, and then growing our businesses together.  Network marketing with Forever is about teamwork and helping others, as you can read in my previous post on working as a team.

Forever Living do help us with information we can use to reach out to those with the skills we want to grow our teams, though.  The latest company magazine has Mary King on the cover: those who love horses will know she is one of Britain’s most successful equestrians, with  a career spanning 30 years and many medals from World Championships and Olympics to her name.

Mary discovered Forever through a mutual friend who approached her and told her all about the benefits of the products.  This is where having the right connections comes in, as being introduced by a friend has much more meaning than approaching someone cold and with no knowledge.  Ask  me to show you a copy of the magazine.

So, do you know anyone who owns a horse or loves horses, or anyone with friends who live at the stables?  If you do I would love a short chat with them to  share with them what Mary and many other leading equestrians and vets love about Aloe Vera.

What is Network Marketing?

So you’ve  seen a great film. What are you going  to do after you’ve seen it?  You are going to tell people about  it.

You might post on Facebook or strike up a conversation with the person next to you in the queue at the post office,  or tell your friends in the office or gym.

If you like something - you tell people about it.

If you like something – you tell people about it.

And when you bump into them again the following week and you find they’ve been to see the same film and loved it too, it gives you a lovely warm glow. You’ve helped someone to have a great experience just by telling them about something you’ve enjoyed.
There is  no greater feeling.
That is the essence of network marketing.

It’s not rocket science or complicated  It’s chatting.  That  is why when you are looking for a network marketing company to join,  and there are many to choose from,  you need to find one with products that you can fall in love with and talk passionately about.

It might sound strange,  but that is how I feel about Forever Living Aloe Vera products. I’ve experienced how the products can make a difference to my life in simple and earth-shattering ways.  I’ve shared my experiences with others I have seen the products make a difference in their lives, too.
There is no greater feeling.

Do you like talking to people about great products you have tried or good service you have received?  If so you are just right for my team – get in touch to find out more.  What are you waiting for? You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Aloe and Animals

Did you know that animals can take Aloe too?  If you have been to one of our business presentations you will know that all of our products are not tested on animals, but our furry friends can drink the gels and you can use the topical creams on their skin and supplements in their food too.

Royal Vetinary College

Royal Veterinary College

Using Aloe for horses in particular is very well documented. Peter Green published an article in the Veterinary Times about Aloe vera extracts in equine clinical practice, which we can send to you on request, and if you look at the coat of arms for the Royal Veterinary College you will see that there is an Aloe plant on the bottom right-hand side.

Cats and dogs these days, just like us humans, are now eating more processed and manufactured food, which can increase the release of free radicals, which is not good; but giving your animals the right supplements will hopefully result in lower vet’s bills.  Obviously, animals don’t have a placebo effect as humans may have.

Horses and dogs tend to take the aloe drinking gel in their food with no problems at all.  With cats you need to be a bit more sneaky and start with a tiny amount and build up slowly.  If that doesn’t work and they just turn up their noses, a great trick that I heard at a training session run by David Urch, a vet who acts as an advisor to Forever Living business owners, is to put a tiny amount on the back of their paws for a few days so that they get used to the taste when they lick it off.  The cat will often then accept the gel being added to their food once they are used to the taste.

As I’ve said in previous posts I am looking to build my team of Forever Living business owners by joining forces with people who are looking for a way to supplement their income.  I’d love to be introduced to people who have links with pet-related businesses.  So if you know a dog sitter or dog trainer, a vet, or someone with stables, please put them in touch with me.  They will be able to introduce the products to their animal loving contacts and clients,  help  the animals, and maybe even save on expensive vet’s bills.  It’s a win-win situation.

How Clean 9 Works and other FAQs

I’ve been writing blog posts connected with my Forever Living business, and my own experiences of using the products, since January 2013, and it is fascinating to see how people end up at my blog, and the questions they ask in Google searches. Although my previous posts  do answer many of the questions, I thought that a post pulling together the most frequently asked questions and pointing readers to the best resources would be of use.

How does Clean 9 Work?

Clean 9 is a cleansing program which gives your body and gut a rest and helps your body get rid of toxins on the first two days through taking regular food out of your diet but including Aloe Gel, which has a cleansing effect on the bowel, and a protein shake and other supplements for nutrients and energy. To see in more detail why the Clean 9 Cleanse is so successful, read my post Cleanse verses diet – why is the Clean 9 detox so successful?

Can you do Clean 9 without Gel?

The cleansing part of the Clean 9 relies on the Aloe Gel to cleanse the gut – so you can’t do the Clean 9 without that fundamental part of the programme  However you can use the Protein Shakes, Garcenia tables, Forever Lean, Forever Therm and Fiber as part of a healthy diet and they will assist you in your weight loss efforts.  If you take a look at our Forever F.I.T. Website  you can find all these products available individually in the Fitness and Weight management area of our shop.

What do I eat on the Clean 9 program?

On days 3 to 9  you include a 600 calorie meal each day into your programme, to reintroduce food in a controlled way into your diet.  These meals should ideally not include processed foods or foods high in sugar fat or salt.  There are calorie charts and meal ideas in the booklet which comes with the pack, and a few ideas on our Nutri Lean Website too.  The booklets can be downloaded from the Forever F.I.T. website.

Can I eat Clean 9 Free Foods even on Days 1 and 2?

You can eat Free Foods on the Clean 9 on all 9 days of the program, for more information on what Free Foods are then take a look at my post Clean 9 – Free Foods.  However if you eat too many of these foods then you may not get such good results, so you should only eat them if you absolutely feel you need to, better a free food than a doughnut. They should be used to curb cravings, but only in moderation on all days.

What does Aloe Gel taste like?

I have been asked this so often that  I have written a blog post just on this topic.

Can I do the Clean 9 again straight away?

We do not recommend doing two Clean 9 programs without at least a 6 week break between them.  You will only have so many toxins which need to be cleansed from your system.  You are much better off moving onto the F.I.T.1 program, or continuing with a healthy eating and exercise plan .  We often find that doing the cleansing program at the start of a new regime makes your efforts much more effective.  If you drift back to bad habits or feel you need a boost, there is no problem with following the program for 2nd time (I have done it 3 times in 18 months) but you should not do it again straight away.

Does the Clean 9 really work?

If you follow the plan and don’t cheat, the Clean 9 does work.  You may not get a huge weight loss with it – but it is a cleansing program not a weight loss product.  Many people do lose weight but that is not a sign of the program working. Most people feel a boost in energy, clearer skin, and a general feeling of well-being on completion of the Clean 9.  Don’t just take my word for it, though – we have a private Facebook group to offer support and answer queries for our customers, so just like our page on Facebook and ask to be added to the group.

Where can I find Clean 9 reviews?

Before and After Forever F.I.T.

Before and After Forever F.I.T.

We often feature Clean 9 success stories on our facebook page, and we feature success stories on our Forever F.I.T. website too.  I also did a video diary when I did the Clean 9 in September 2013. Here is the first day – and follow the Silicon Bullet channel for all 9 videos.

Any more questions?

So, I hope that I have answered some of the more common questions about the Forever Living Clean 9 program, but feel free to message me should you have any questions not covered here – or ask me about my next weight management information evening where you can try the gels, supplements and protein shakes and find out much more information in person.  There are more frequently asked questions answered inside the back cover of your Clean 9 information booklet which comes in the pack or it can be downloaded from the Clean 9 page on my FIT website.

We have many successful business owners who add a new income stream to their existing business through using and recommending the Clean 9 cleansing system to their clients and friends – if you would like more information about joining my growing team then do get in touch.  If you can find 3 friends who want to join you in following the cleansing program with you, we can offer a generous commission for referrals – and following the program is much easier with friends!

What does Aloe Gel taste like?

One of the most frequent  questions I am asked when I am meeting people to tell them about Forever Living’s Aloe Vera Gel is “what does Aloe taste like?”

If you are in a room of Forever Living Distributors, this question is always replied to with a bit of a nervous giggle – as those of us that have tasted Aloe Gel know this is not an easy question to answer.  We nod and wink and say, “it’s delicious”. It has become a bit of an in joke amongst distributors.

This is why I often have Aloe Gel available for people to taste at events, and I get many reactions to that first taste too.  Firstly by being honest and saying it is not to everyone’s taste, you do lower expectations, so many take a nervous sip and say, “it’s not THAT bad”, whilst others screw up their faces and say, “how do you drink that?” or hardly even let the gel touch their lips.

So firstly, before you taste the gel and walk away in disgust, cast your mind back to that first taste of wine, beer, spirits or even coffee that you had. Did you think that it tasted delicious straight away, or was it a taste and flavour you gradually came to love?

Aloe Drinking Gels

Our Gel does come in four different varieties and flavours, although for many people the Plain Aloe Gel (or ‘The Yellow One’ thanks to the distinctive bottle colour) would be the gel of choice, some people just can’t get used to the taste – so here are a few tips to help soften the blow:

  • Drink the Gel quickly – don’t let it touch the sides.  One friend drinks hers out of a shot glass, as the positive mental images of drinking from a shot glass help it go down smoothly, another uses a wine glass for similar reasons.
  • Have another drink or snack ready to take the taste away – be that fruit juice, water, or some other drink.  My daughter uses a chocolate biscuit most mornings!
  • Add something to the Gel – you can dilute your gel with fruit juice – although orange is not recommended as it is quite acidic.  I have been told that blackcurrant juice works well.  One thing you do need to watch out for is that some of my customers don’t like this method as they can still taste the Aloe in the drink, and it just takes longer to gulp down.  A recent tip from Dr Peter Atherton (who is the GP on our Advisory Board) was to add a little fruit cordial or squash  to your Gel – this has the advantage of being less bulky and stronger in flavour than fruit juice and masks the taste quite well.
  • Start with a small dose (say 15ml) and work your way up to the recommended dose of 60ml gradually.  This gives your stomach a chance to get used to the Gel.

If you really can’t get on with the Plain Aloe Gel, then you can try one of the three other flavours.  Berry Nectar has added apple and cranberry Juice, Forever Freedom has orange juice added, and Bits n’ Peaches is the sweetest of the four with, yes, you guessed it, peach juice added.  I have written another post Which Aloe Gel is right for me ? with more details of the 4 different flavours.

The recommended daily dose of Aloe Vera Gel as a general tonic is 60ml per day, taken on am empty stomach first thing in the morning.  If you are taking the gel for a specific reason, however, you can up your daily dose to 100ml per day quite safely.  I take 60ml of Forever Freedom for the glucosamine, and condroitin and MSM due to my active lifestyle, and 60ml of Berry Nectar as I like the flavour.

So what does Aloe Vera Gel taste like?  It tastes delicious, it tastes like TCP, it tastes medicinal, it tastes like it is good for me.  The answer is different depending on who you ask – what does it taste like to you?

If you would like to try our Aloe Gel for yourself then contact me – or take a look at our webshop.

Learning to Run Step One – Get the right tools for the job

As I said in my previous post How life changes – looking back and going forward, I have decided that in 2013, having mastered walking, I am now going to learn to run. I thought I would share the tools I have used to get me started – as having the right tools for the job definitely makes things easier.

My Smartphone

I have a Galaxy S2 smartphone – and I use it for EVERYTHING, so it was the first place I turned to when I was looking for help with my challenge.  I already used the sports tracking app Endomondo to track all of my walks and other exercise last year.  Endomondo has great challenges you can join, and that was how I logged my 100 miles every month – no messy spreadsheets to manage – just turn on your GPS – set Endomondo running – and the app does the rest.

Runkeeper

So I searched for an app which provides an easy-to-follow programme to get you running, and I settled on Runkeeper.  I was able to set my target as being able to run a 5k in early March – and then the app gave me a programme of walks and runs to follow leading up to this goal.  It suggests one workout every other day , which as I used to try and walk every day, seemed quite manageable.

However, Runkeeper did suggest I did short runs from quite early on, before I was really ready to – so I used it alongside my Endomondo, where I set up an interval training programme which would beep every minute or so, and I used this to do my burst of exercise with alternating walking and running segments.  This has really helped me to keep focused and spurred me on to run a little more than I would have done without these apps to tell me what to do.

Heart Monitor

For my birthday I was given a Zephyr heart monitor.  If you are exercising to lose weight, using a heart monitor makes the calorie burn estimates in Endomondo much more accurate – and you can see your fitness levels improving too by seeing how quickly your heart rate comes down after exercise.  This monitor attaches to a strap you wear round your chest, and links via Bluetooth to the Endomondo app on my phone.  I was very interested to see how my heart rate fluctuates during a Zumba class – we do a very high impact routine to a Rhianna song and that gives me my peak reading!

Supplements

I take several supplements which help keep my energy levels up.  For a start, I take Bee Pollen tablets each morning which helps with energy and stamina,  I take Arctic Sea  for the fish oils and Omega 3 and 6 which has really helped control my inherited high Cholesterol levels and also I take a vitamin C supplement called Absorbant C which helps maintain healthy connective tissues, skin joints and respiratory functions.

Products for Fitness

Products for Fitness

The new supplement I have been trying is a drink you make up from powder called ARGI + which maintains healthy blood pressure and cardiovascular health.  ARGI+ contains L-Argenine and vitamins and I take the drink just before I go out running – and I have noticed that I can catch my breath more easily  when I remember to take it just before my run. I have seen some excellent testimonials from Iron Man competitors about the Forever Living supplements I am taking and how they have helped others – I am not quite up to their activity levels, but every little helps!  You can learn more about these products on my website – clicking on the Order Forever Nutri-Lean button at the bottom right to get access to the web shop.

Progress So Far

So how am I doing with my challenge?  Well, on Sunday 27th January I took part in my first Just Racing 5k Cross country race.  I managed a time of 38:28 and although I walked up some of the hills, I am very proud of my achievement.   Weather and work have now meant I have missed out on a couple of weeks of running – but you may see me at a Park Run in Northamptonshire soon trying to improve my time!

Cleanse verses diet – why is the Clean 9 so successful?

How I have Changed

How I have Changed

January is the month of diets and cleanses after the excesses of Christmas – but which should you choose – and if you have to do a cleanse or diet every January, then does it really work for you?  I had followed this pattern for years of losing a little weight through the year but then come Christmas, New Year  and two family birthdays, all in 10 days, I would still find myself in the same position needing to lose weight again each January.

So how have I turned things around and changed my life in the last year, which means I am starting 2013 already at my target weight, and I don’t have another year of frustration to look forward to? The secret is the Forever Living Clean 9 Cleansing Program.

Diet vs. Cleanse

One of the complex ways the liver deals with impurities is to increase body fat to wrap up these impurities to protect the body from their influence.  Think of all those take-away meals and sweet treats you eat through the year and especially at Christmas. The problem with a traditional diet is you lose the weight, but those impurities remain so you actually have a higher percentage of impurities in your new slimline body.  Your lean body mass decreases, which means your metabolic rate slows and you burn less fat.  When your body senses an increased level of these impurities it goes into emergency fat production – and when you return to normal eating your weight rebounds, and quite often you end up heavier than when you started.

Traditional Diet Vs Cleansing

Traditional Diet Vs Cleansing

Kicking off your healthy eating plan with the Clean 9 Cleanse means that your body sheds the impurities during the 9 day program, which means you feel healthier overall, and with fewer impurities in your system, your body sheds the fat and increases your lean body mass.  A higher lean body mass means you burn more energy even when at rest and you have a higher metabolic rate.  You need to increase your exercise levels as part of the process – the advice whilst on the detox is a minimum of 20 minutes’ exercise each day.

This means that when you finish your cleanse and go back to normal (but hopefully healthier) eating patterns – or move onto the 2nd stage offered by Forever Living – the F.I.T.1 program – you don’t rebound back to your former weight but have an excellent platform to continue your weight loss and achieve your personal goals – whilst feeling healthier and having more energy.

My Story

Wii Fit Screen Shots 2010-2012

Wii Fit Screen Shots 2010-2012

Personally, after my hip replacement in 2007 (see my previous blog post on Looking back and Going Forward) I decided that I needed to make my hip last as long as possible by shifting my excess weight and having a more active lifestyle.  I lost more than a stone during the first year (2010) with supplements and a slight increase in exercise, but gained quite a bit back over that first Christmas. So I started again in January 2011 and this time lost another stone by calorie counting and increasing my exercise levels … but from the September of that year I was stuck again.  I was then getting really fed up with the constant calorie counting – and although I increased my exercise levels (and discovered Zumba) I was just stuck on a plateau.  People did start to notice my weight loss though, as the exercise was changing my shape.

The change came on April 2012 when I was introduced to Forever Living and did my first Clean 9 cleanse.  At last I shifted off the plateau and reduced my weight – but more importantly, I was able to move down 2 dress sizes as my figure noticeably changed shape – as I had  more energy than I knew what to do with and my exercise levels rocketed.  I started getting compliments wherever I went – I have to admit I feel great.

So, going forward – I don’t need to calorie count any more, but I have improved my diet generally – and I did a 2nd Clean 9 cleanse  in November to build on my success.  I am keeping the exercise levels up but I know if I slip back into bad habits I now have the tools to stop myself – and the usual rebound of putting the weight straight back on when you return to your normal everyday diet has not happened.
