Joining Forever Living in the UK

If you are in the UK we have handy online sponsorship forms accessed from the http://www.foreverknowledge.info website which allows you to join either through ordering the Business Owner Box or by purchasing the C9 (Clean 9 cleansing pack), which is the least expensive way to join Forever Living.

Business Owner Box

If you are already a Business Owner in the UK  you should have your Forever Knowledge log in information and you will find the online application forms to share in the My Forever > My Business > Online Application Forms area of the website at the top right, and there is handy ‘How To’ video link to watch an information video on how to use the forms.

20 Ways to Raise the money to join Forever Living

I get contacted often by people keen to join Forever Living, but they can’t afford the £199.75 for the UK Business Owner Box (or BOB as we affectionately call it) and they want financial help in order to get started. Prices vary depending on which country you are from. See my previous post on How Much Does it Cost to Join Forever Living.

However when you join Forever Living you are starting your own business, and if you don’t make some sacrifices yourself to join, or actually invest your own effort and time into raising the funds for your box you may well not see the value in your new business. Also would you give another person who contacted you out of the blue via the internet £200 just like that?

I am very happy to give my time, expertise and support to help others start their own business, but you need to also commit your time and effort too or your business will never grow. Take a look at my previous post How Not to Grow your Network Marketing Team on more reasons why funding someone to join Forever Living is not a great idea.

So how can you earn enough to buy your BOB if you have no spare money – here are my top 20 tips….

  1. Collect £2 or £1 coins
  2. Ebay your surplus clothes
  3. Cash in the attic – sell those treasures you have forgotten about
  4. Sell your unwanted belongings
  5. Do some overtime
  6. Baby sit
  7. Clean for Someone
  8. Walk dogs
  9. Clean cars
  10. Have a garage or yard sale
  11. Ask your family
  12. Credit Card (but pay it back from your first orders)
  13. Ask 20 people for £10
  14. Ask 10 people for £20
  15. Give up alcohol or smoking
  16. Stop eating out
  17. Take your own coffee instead of buying from Costa/Starbucks
  18. Do someone else’s gardening
  19. Do someone else’s shopping
  20. Do someone else’s ironing

I appreciate that not all these options are available to everyone, but pick one or two from the list or find your own way to save up your pennies, and you will find the £1s will soon mount up.

Also while you are saving then contact me and I can share some fabulous resources and background reading to help you learn more about this fabulous business so when you have saved the money you are ready to get earning straight away.

So what are you waiting for – start saving today – and come and join my team.

Recruiting in Network Marketing

Whether you are new to Network Marketing, or you have been in your business for a while, one of the main things people struggle with is how to grow their team.  If you are in a business with a fantastic product, like I am with Forever Living, then the retailing part of the business, whilst not easy, develops much quicker than the team building part of the business.  However if you really want to make your business grow then building and supporting a team is essential.

Talking too Much

When I first joined Forever in 2012 I was so excited about this new opportunity I had found, linked to products which I already knew and loved, that I tried to tell everyone about how fantastic it was, and I couldn’t understand why some people just didn’t want to listen.  I definitely became an Aloe Bore, and when someone showed even a small shred of interest I tried to dump a whole ton of information on them, which would invariably scare them off.  I’m sure people tiptoed round me and didn’t want to set me off on another Aloe Aly lecture, or even avoided me completely.

talk and listen figures

Keeping things quiet

There then followed a period in my business where I was too scared to tell anyone about what I did after the reactions from my Aloe Bore phase. I just thought nobody wanted to know.  I would be careful not to mention Forever Living on my personal  Facebook profile, and I seemed constantly scared of offending people by mentioning my business.  Then if I saw someone else I knew trying the products from another business owner, or looking at the business through someone else, I would get upset they had not come to me.  But I was so quiet and timid about my business that they probably had no idea I was a Forever business owner myself, and that I wanted to build a team.  This was my Secret Aloe stage.

Striking the Right Balance

I needed to learn not to dump tons of information on anyone that showed a vague interest in my business, but also learn not to be scared to let people know about what I do in my Forever Business day to day.

Through the trainings I have been to since I started my business I have learned that when I am talking to people about my business, the important thing is not telling people how wonderful the business is, or how wonderful the products are, I can demonstrate how I love being a Forever Living Business owner just in the way I live my life, how I feel, what I am doing with my time, I don’t need to force feed the information to anyone.

Then if someone likes what they see and starts to show an interest in the business, what really engages them is what’s in it for them.

Think to yourself, how can they benefit from a business like mine, and most importantly what can you do to help them.  That is what people want to know.

But in order to really connect with someone and be able to show them how a business like yours can give them what they want and need, your first have to listen to find out what motivates them. You can then show and demonstrate how a business like yours will give them what they are looking for,  whether that is money, better lifestyle, more time or something else.

Why will people say No ?No Entry Sign

If you feel like you are being ‘sold’ to you will immediately switch off and not want to listen to what is being said.   Think about how you react to being approached by a cold caller.

People will also say no if they can’t see any personal benefit from joining you.  It’s the What’s in it for ME? syndrome.

How do you get people interested?

When you are approached about the business, and you have listened to why your prospect is interested, how can you prevent yourself from then going back to the talking too much about your opportunity, and scare them into thinking they are being sold to?

First thing is to ask for your prospect’s help in building your business.  Ask them if they know anyone who might like some information about your business opportunity.  Rather than asking them directly, by asking them for help and if they know anyone you are not challenging them or selling to them.  People are far more likely to respond positively, and quite often then say ‘Well I might be interested, can you tell me more?’

The  easiest way instead of trying to tell them all about your business if they do express an interest,is to  offer to send them a video or link to a business presentation which they can watch which will tell them more.  In my business we have a variety of videos, YouTube clips and DVD’s we can share with our prospects which have been developed by successful business owners in our team. Make sure you know what resources are available in your business and have them easily to hand to send to people.

Once they have watched the video they may be interested, or they may not, but if you have managed to get them to watch and consider your business opportunity, then you have at least managed to get over the first hurdle of sharing your business with someone.  The more people who see the information the more likely you are to find those people who really want to join you.

If they are not interested themselves then they might pass your name on to someone they know, or worst case scenario they say they don’t know anyone or they aren’t interested.  You can then just say ‘thanks for listening, I just though I’d ask’ and move on.

Want to learn more?

If you have not yet found the right network marketing business for you, and you are looking for your own business opportunity then get in touch and I can work with you to help you build your business.  Take a look at our Business Brochure to learn more about Network Marketing in general and Forever Living in particular.

Then just contact me for more information and I’ll send you a short video from our team which explains the business in an easy to understand way. I can answer any questions you have and we can work together to build your business and do as I have done so you can achieve your dreams.

How can I be successful in Forever Living?

Whether you have already joined Forever Living as a business owner, or if you are still considering whether to join, you may be asking yourself ‘How can I be successful with Forever Living?’  I have previously written a post about How Much Can You Earn with Forever Living, but is money what motivates you, or is it something else?

Know why are you considering Forever Living

The first step to success if to know WHY do you want to be in this business?  This is the first thing we cover in your first business planning meeting when you join us.  If you don’t know WHY you are starting this incredible journey then you are likely to stumble early on.  You need to think about your goals in life, in your family, and in your business.

It might be a financial goal, paying your mortgage, having extra money to have some fun with your family, sending you children to private school.  It could be you want a more flexible way of working, a job that isn’t 9 to 5, with lots of unpaid overtime, or maybe you just want more time to spend on your children.  It could be a new car or a foreign holiday. Dream big or it will never happen.

Whatever your reason is, make sure you write your WHY  down, focus on it,  visualise yourself sitting in that convertible car, plan fun things to do with your family and create a vision board with pictures.  That way these dreams become goals, until you write your dreams down they will not feel real.why

Learn from those who have gone before you.

The second step to success is to never stop learning in your business.  When you first join our team, the first thing we will do is schedule in your first planning meeting where we get you started working on your business.  This is just the first instalment of the fantastic training Forever Living have to offer, which is both personally from myself as you team leader, meetings both in person and on-line with our team, and a fantastic array of training materials provided by the company too.

The wonderful thing about this business is you are never alone.  The business has been going for 37 years and those who started with the business early on have worked out what works and what doesn’t, and they have now shared this with all new business owners in the First Steps to Manager Manual, which was launched by Jayne Leach, one of the top UK business owners in 2014.  This manual comes in your business owner box, and if you choose me as your sponsor I’ll guide you through launching your business successfully and hold your hand every step of the way.

So be a sponge, learn from those who have already been through what you are going through, and then you can pass on your knowledge to others as you grow your own team.

Plan to be Successful

The third step to success is plan plan plan.  Once you know why you are doing the business and what your goals are, and you know how to build your business by accessing all the training available, you then need to plan you business every step of the way.  You know the saying, failure to plan is planning to fail.

Break down your goals into bite size chunks, then formulate a plan on how to achieve each smaller goal.  The only way you will fail is if you don’t take that first step. Goals change and move too, so you need to constantly look at how far have you come, have your goals shifted, and what you need to do to keep on track.

Planning

Don’t just Give it a Go!

Make sure when you decide to join Forever Living and buy your business owner box that you are not just ‘giving it a go’ as this is a sure fire way to not be successful.  Get you mindset right.  Plan to be successful.  Train to be successful.  Make being successful one of your goals .

Don’t let those negative voices in your head put you off, and don’t let  those other people in your life take your dreams away from you by not understanding what you are doing. Know why you are doing this business and keep doing the activity.  If you touch your business every day, your goals and dreams will become reality.

Remember, as top business philosopher Jim Rohn says, If you want to do something you’ll find a way.  If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.  Get in touch now about joining my team and we can find a way together to build your Forever Business into the successful business you deserve.

Joining Forever Living

Joining Forever Living as a business owner is a huge decision for most people.  Firstly though this decision differs depending on how you found out about the company in the first place. Did a close friend introduce you to the business, maybe someone you used to know contacted you out of the blue, or perhaps you have found out about it through social media.  Often business owners join because they were first introduced to the products, then they come to realise there is a business opportunity behind the products.

Business Owner Box

Business Owner Box

Many people join Forever Living as they need an extra income, but this is by no means the only reason to join, but if this applies to you then you need to carefully choose who you join the company through.  The thing with any network marketing company is if you treat it like a hobby you will earn a hobby income, but if you treat it seriously like a business then you can earn a significant business income.  So how do you know you are being introduced to Forever by someone who is treating their business seriously, and will they give you the right support to get you where you want to be.?

Choosing your sponsor

I am getting an increasing number of enquiries through this blog from people who have joined Forever Living through a friend, but then they have not been given any guidance on what to do next.  I know this is not always the fault of the sponsor, as some people just don’t want to listen to advice no matter how much you try to help, but I do get the impression that sometimes they feel that getting someone to join their team is where their involvement ends, they then go looking for their next person to sign on the dotted line.

So if you are joining to build a serious business rather than as a hobby or to ‘get the products a bit cheaper’; then you really need to look carefully at your sponsor, and their support network, and choose who you join with carefully.

So how should you choose

  1. Can you get on with them? – You need to work closely with your sponsor.  Are they friendly and approachable?  Do they respond in a timely way to questions?  Can you see yourself spending time with them, either in person or online?
  2. Have they answered your questions? – It’s understandable that you have a lot of questions that need to be answered, so have they been able to help?  Now I don’t expect someone new recruiting for the first time to know the answers to everything, but they should know where to go for the answers.
  3. Are they part of a supportive team? –  If I don’t know the answer to a questions then I can go to my sponsor or ask someone else in my team. You are not just joining your sponsor – you are joining a team. So get an idea of who else is in the team and if they are the sort of people who will be helpful and open and supportive.  When I had new team members join the week before I was due to go on holiday, my sponsor stepped in and helped launch the businesses of my two ladies.  Then later in the year I was able to return the favour and help with a business launch for someone else new. Find a team with a great ethos in teamwork.
  4. Is there team training? – The training provided by Forever Living is absolutely fantastic, with our advisory board who present training sessions as well as offer advice through head office – but some teams also have team specific training both locally and on line.  Ask what training is available specific to your team and how you can access it.  In our team geography is no barrier – our team training is available online so if you live in Edinburgh or Cornwall you can still access our support.

Helping you build a successful vibrant business is how we earn our commission.   I don’t understand those business owners who just want to sign people up – as that is often the most difficult part of the business.  Surely it is easier to help someone who has already made that decision to join to be successful than to keep looking for that new team member.

So if you are looking at Forever Living and you think your prospective sponsor does not tick all the boxes above, then I would be very happy to hear from you.  I have team members currently in Glasgow and Tyne and Wear and another who has recently joined in Ipswich, as well as several local to me in Northampton and Milton Keynes, but in my experience it is better to have an active and supportive sponsor who can be at the end of the phone to support and help you, rather than someone just down the road who has no support network and training available.

Choose your team carefully – and good luck in your business.  Is Forever Living worth doing?  Yes, definitely, but it involves hard work and self discipline.  You will only get back from your business the rewards your own efforts deserve, but give yourself the best chance possible by choosing the right team for you.

How not to grow your network marketing team

I get a lot of requests from people to help them join Forever Living by paying for their business owner box (Formerly the New Distributor Pack – NDP). I know that the  investment seems like a lot of money to someone who has been made redundant, or can’t find a job,  but it is something I would never recommend to a Forever Business Owner building their business.

NDP_2014

Network Marketing

Any network marketing business takes time and dedication to really work.  It is not something you can dabble and play at if you want to make a good living from it.  It’s true that if you treat it like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby, or even cost you money.  If you treat it like a serious business, it can reward you for many years to come.

You need to be really serious about wanting to start a new business, and this takes commitment and self sacrifice.  It takes investment in time and effort.  You need to consider that your initial investment is providing you with the tools to be able to run your own business.  If you are able to join too easily then you are more likely to give up when the going gets tough.

Network marketing is not the right business for anyone who is not self motivated.  You may be part of a supportive team, but no one will be telling you to get up each morning and get on with your day.  You are your own boss, you need to be able to stand on your own two feet.  And this starts with finding the way to finance your business owner box (BOB).

How can you help?

So if you are asked by a prospect to help them finance their BOB then I recommend you read my previous posts How Much Does it Cost to Join Forever Living for tips on other ways you can help a new team member to join you.  You can help a prospective new team member to put a plan in place to save the money they need to join, and support them in this process.  Then when they are able to join your team you know they are truly committed to their new business and an asset to your growing team.  I have some simple money raising ideas in my post 20 Ways to Raise the money to join Forever Living.

Your team will often be joining Forever because they need the extra income they are making to put food on the table, pay the rent or save for family treats.  Your new team member will not have the money themselves to pay for their new team members to join.  If you recommend that your team have to help their new team members financially then this would not be a duplicable process. So make sure you run your business in the way your sponsor showed you, then help your team members to do the same.

Working Together

Who do you want to work with?

Ask yourself something, would you want to build a team of people who expect to just be given the resources they need to start a new business?  Or do you want a team of people who have had to fight hard to join your team, shown real self sacrifice and self discipline in order to join you?

If you are in that 2nd group and have not found your sponsor in Forever yet then please get in touch about joining my team.  I’m looking for you!

Is Forever Living a Pyramid Scheme?

When I first tell people I am involved with a network marketing or multi level marketing company, one of the most common questions I get asked is ‘is it a pyramid scheme?’   I then ask what do you think a pyramid scheme is, and the questioner is usually left stumped as they don’t actually know.  It is just a phrase commonly associated with this sort of business, and they vaguely think of it as something that is illegal and not very positive.

What is a Pyramid Scheme?

Well, in order to understand and answer the question, first you need to understand what a pyramid scheme is.

According to The Free Dictionary, the definition of a Pyramid Scheme is “A fraudulent moneymaking scheme in which people are recruited to make payments to others above them in a hierarchy while expecting to receive payments from people recruited below them. Eventually, the number of new recruits fails to sustain the payment structure, and the scheme collapses with most people losing the money they paid in.”

Schemes like this are illegal, and the only person that can ever make any money from them are the people at the top.  They are unsustainable and doomed to failure.

How does Forever Living differ from a Pyramid Scheme?

There are many reasons why Forever Living is not a pyramid scheme, the more obvious ones being

  1. When you sign up as a forever business owner you do not pay any money to the person who recruited you.  You enter your own contract with Forever Living directly either by purchasing some products or buying a business owner box.
  2. The business owner box or evaluation pack you can buy when you first join is a box of products and literature which you can use to get your business started.  The value of the items in the box is actually far higher than the price you pay for them.  There are no ‘fees’ to pay in order to join.
  3. Everyone buys products from Forever Living to resell at exactly the same price.  If you have bought the evaluation pack then this is at a 30% discount.
  4. Forever Living has been trading since 1978.  The company is cash rich and debt free and operates legally in over 155 countries worldwide.
  5. You are paid a commission by the company based on the activity of the forever business owners you introduce.  The more people you introduce, the more you get paid.  However, you can make money purely by selling products if that is what you wish to do.  There is no obligation to recruit your own team.
  6. It is possible to earn more money that the person who recruited you.  If you work hard and build up your own team then you will be the one to reap the benefits of your own hard work.
  7. If you decide that Forever Living is not for you, there are terms and conditions which permit you to return and be refunded for products which you have not sold, within reasonable time constraints.  There is also a 14 day cancellation guarantee which allows you to get your money back if you change your mind.
  8. If you treat Forever Living like a serious business then you will be paid in kind.  If you treat it like a hobby then you won’t and may even spend more than you earn.

The reason Forever Living is confused with a pyramid scheme is there are similarities in the shape of the structure of the teams.  However if you have a traditional job think of the hierarchy there with a company director, managers, supervisors and staff.  Isn’t that a pyramid too?  Don’t confuse the structure of the company with the illegal pyramid schemes.  it is just an unfortunate shapely coincidence.

Do you work for a Pyramid Scheme?

Do you work for a Pyramid Scheme?

Just for fun…..

I also love this cartoon on YouTube about network marketing – it has a creepy Steven Hawking type voice over, but I love the sentiment behind it.

Want to find out more?

If you are keen to find out more about Forever Living and either starting your own retail business or building your own team then do get in touch with me and I can send you more information about Forever Living in your area, or read my previous post about joining online.

I’d love to join Forever Living, but I don’t know anyone!

Following on with my theme of looking at reasons for not starting a new business with Forever Living, I thought I would look at “I don’t know anyone”, which is common response that I hear from people looking at joining my business.

One of the first steps when you start any network marketing or direct selling business is making a list of everyone who you think might be interested in hearing about your new business opportunity, or finding out about the wonderful new products you are selling.  The training we offer at Forever Living is excellent at helping you to create a list of possible contacts: we call it your Who Do You Know List (WDYKL).  When you  just stop and think of everyone in your life, you will find that you know far more people than you think you do.

The easy ones first are family and friends.  Hopefully they will be excited about your new business and keen to support you.  My Mum is my best customer, and my sister has joined the business with me, so for me family have been great for my business.  What I like about choosing Forever Living as my network marketing business is that I can see how much the products can help people – so I am helping the people I value most in life.

Do you go to group classes?

Do you go to group classes?

Next, look one step further away from home.  Maybe you already have a day job, you go to a gym, zumba class or have some other hobby.  You will find that you can share your wonderful new products with these people who you meet day-to-day in your life already.  These are people who you already know and who you see and talk to on a daily basis, so you can easily tell people about the new business you are excited about.

Talk to your waitress or checkout operator.

Talk to your waitress or checkout operator.

One step further removed are the people you meet every day going about your daily business.  The lady on the checkout in the supermarket, your dentist, hairdresser, bus driver, etc.  The beauty of the products we offer at Forever Living is that the product range is so huge that there are products for everyone.  These are the sort of people you might naturally pass the time of day with, so ask questions about how much they enjoy their job, or any health issues they have, and you can then talk about your new business and the products you offer, and offer to help.

The last stage, maybe not for the faint-hearted, is people shopping or contact marketing.  Just approach people when you are out shopping or in a public place and strike up a conversation with them, offering them your card or some literature.  Many people build up fantastic teams and successful businesses with this method of approaching people. It isn’t for everyone, and I admit that I am not very good at this myself, but my sister Kate has become a fantastic people shopper and can share her techniques with the rest of the team.

So, when you sit and think about how you don’t know anyone, just think about how many people you have had the opportunity to pass the time of day with in the last week – and you will realise that you know more people than you think.

Working as a team.

I have run my own business now since 2000 and I’ve always been the sort to try to do everything myself.  If I can get the task done and I have time, why should I pay someone else to do it?
Trying to do too much.
Since I have been a keen networker, though, over the last four years I have gradually learned that doing everything yourself is not necessarily the most cost-effective and best way to run your own small business.  When those jobs that you really don’t enjoy start to pile up, isn’t it better to outsource them to someone who can do them quickly and efficiently and then get on with the jobs you know that you are skilled at? I have now met many other small business owners, and by trading services and assisting each other, we can all help each other to grow.

I joined Forever Living in June 2012 and I am learning even more how great it is to work as a team.  My expertise is in IT and Bookkeeping.  It’s something I can talk about forever, excuse the pun, and it can be really satisfying to be able to help team members who often have never been in charge of their own accounts before, making sure that they do the right thing and keep the correct records, and helping them to find the right tools for the job.

I also recognise that in building a strong team in my Forever Living business, with people from different backgrounds and with different skills and knowledge, the sum of the parts working together can be stronger than the individuals each working on their own.

Forever Living has an ethos of those who are further on with their journey sharing how they have got there, and what has worked for them. When you go to the company trainings and team events you will always hear inspiring stories and useful practical advice on how you can improve your business.  We share resources online as well as in person, too, and it means that team members become great friends as well as colleagues.

So, I am looking for people with particular knowledge and skills to grow my team, as there are sectors which I know our products are perfect for but I know little about. If you know anyone with expertise in any of the following areas, please put me in touch with them, as the other thing you learn when networking is one good referral is more effective than 10 cold calls!

And just think – who would you like to work with to make your business more effective.  If you ask for referrals yourself, you might just find that your job gets easier too by spreading the load.
